Adult Open Yoga Classes… These 1.5 hour classes are open to all experience levels, although the class is generally structured at an intermediate intensity. We practice pranayama (yogic breathing) and asana (yoga postures), opening and strengthening the body while cultivating an awareness of breath. We end the class with deep relaxation.
Notes:
We recommend practicing on an empty stomach.
Wear comfortable clothes you can move in.
If you are new to yoga, please only practice what is comfortable. We highly recommend an Introduction to Yoga course for a class that is specifically geared towards beginners.
Introduction to Yoga… This is a great course for those who have always wanted to learn more about yoga and have never had the time, or for those who would like to begin their practice in a supportive environment especially designed for beginners.
Build a strong foundation for your yoga practice, including warm-ups, joint-freeing exercises, yoga postures (
asana ), yogic breathing, and relaxation. Learn the main goals of Hatha Yoga and also the Five Points for Radiant Health.
Yoga for Kids! Yoga is a wonderful way for children to stay (or become) confident, balanced, joyful, peaceful, and focused. Yoga engages a child's natural, boundless energy, and conveys valuable lessons in positive thinking, body and mind awareness, and peacefulness. Each class is alive with playful Yoga postures, fun breathing exercises, meditation, magical stories and creative, cooperative Yoga games.
Ma and Baby Yoga
(newborns– pre-crawling)... This class has three aspects, focusing on mother, baby, and the playful interaction between the two. Postures and exercises for the specific needs of the mother's body after giving birth include: strengthening the abdominal and pelvic floor areas, releasing shoulder tightness, strengthening back muscles, opening the chest, and more. Baby engagement exercises focus on range of motion, skill learning (rolling, pushing, crawling, etc), vestibular stimuli, tummy time and include massage as well!
Class Etiquette:
Nursing, changing, crying, burping, laughing, are all OK!
Please bring a blanket for your baby, as she used to your particular smell.
If you bring toys, make sure that they don't make music, as this can be distracting in the class. Please keep toys on your mat.
Important Note: If you have had a cesarean, please wait at least 6 weeks before beginning your yoga practice with us. All other new mothers can begin 4 weeks after giving birth.
Prenatal Yoga… This class is for women in all trimesters of pregnancy. It is includes pranayama (breathing practices suitable for pregnant women), gentle flowing sun salutations, strengthening and stretching, pelvic floor exercises, and plenty of relaxation.
Note: You can bring a snack to the class and feel free to rest, eat, and drink as you need to!
Family Yoga (parent/grandparent and child)… Strengthen the bonds between you and your loved ones as you practice family Yoga! In this fun class, children, parents and grandparents join together for playful stretches, rejuvenating breathing exercises and relaxation.
Partner Yoga… Partner poses and stretches support and connect participants with breath and awareness. Go deeper into yoga poses and have a lot of fun! This class deepens the connection between couples, friends, and family. Come with or without a partner! We will pair up in the class.
Meditation… Discover why meditation has transformed the lives of so many people around the world! Learn practical methods to quiet and focus your mind as you delve deep into the peace which is your true nature.
This course presents practical methods to steady the mind. When the mind is free from the movements created by thought currents and emotions, we are able to look deep within and find inner peace and happiness that cannot be disturbed.
Topics include: What is Mind, Your Power over Thoughts and the Conquest of Negative Emotions, Improving Concentration, and the Eight Limbs of Raja Yoga. Within the system of Raja Yoga is the foundation of Eastern Ethics and Psychology, and priceless tools for meditation.
Private Classes… There are few pleasures like having a yoga teacher all to yourself! Yoga LeShalom offers personal classes for individuals, couples, and groups in your home, or in our studio. Tell us what you'd like to work on, and we'll create a custom class just for you. Other possibilities include Partner Yoga, Family Yoga, or Yoga for Co-workers. Great idea for weddings/bridal showers, birthdays, anniversaries or any occasion!
Yoga Birthday Party… Your child and friends can celebrate this special day with yoga! A Yoga LeShalom yoga teacher will arrive at your party and give a 45-min age-appropriate Yoga for Kids class to all of the kids at the party! Yoga is a great way to celebrate, with fun group games and lots of yoga animal silliness.
